Logan Paul Calls Conor McGregor a WWE Star With Blunt ‘Faking It’ Claim
Logan Paul named Conor McGregor as the opponent he would like to face if he gets another big boxing match. During a conversation with Patrick Bet-David at Vault 2026, The Maverick explained why he believed a fight with McGregor would attract plenty of attention before taking aim at the Irishman’s recent career.
Paul said the two nearly had a fight in the past, but McGregor still had fights remaining on his UFC contract. He also questioned why fans continued to believe McGregor could beat him, arguing that the former UFC champion had always been good at selling himself as a threat.
“Me and Connor, I think like almost could have happened. It didn’t happen cuz he had a couple more fights on his UFC contract. But Connor is interesting because he’s such a showman, and he’s so convincing. He can convince people that he could beat me. He could do it. He, bro, he had people convinced that he was going to beat Max Holloway. This was his last fight. I said, “No, no f**king way, bro. I threw 60k on Max Holloway. I’m the only one in the room. My friends are like, “Dude, it’s McGregor.” I’m like, “You don’t understand. That dude’s (Conor) last 5 years weren’t like a healthy physical time off.”
When asked if he would actually take the fight, Logan Paul did not hesitate. He said he would be confident against McGregor and believed the matchup would generate significant business.
“If the fight came around, we’re both under TKO. I’m sure it would be box office, and I’m sure I’d whoop his a*s. But he’ll convince people; there will be half the people in the room who think Connor will beat me.”
The Vision member then took his comments further, claiming Conor McGregor was “faking it” and comparing what the Irishman currently does in combat sports to his own work in WWE.
“My belief is, who are you? He’s a f**king bum. Who are you going to put him against that people are excited about? Like they’re always going to be excited because it’s Conor McGregor. Or you can make another crossover super fight that will get more attention than whoever he decides to fight next, cuz everyone knows that he’s faking it,” Logan said. “It’s funny. He’s really a WWE star at the moment. He’s doing the same thing I’m doing. But worse. Way worse.”
Logan Paul and Conor McGregor Have Previously Discussed a Fight
The possibility of Paul and McGregor meeting in a combat sports bout has been discussed for several years. In January 2025, Paul claimed that McGregor had messaged him about a potential boxing match, saying the fight “can and will happen.” McGregor had also spoken publicly about the possibility of facing the WWE star in the ring.
Logan Paul’s interest in the matchup continued after McGregor’s return to competition. The former UFC champion faced Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11, 2026, in a rematch of their 2013 featherweight bout.
The fight ended after just 69 seconds when McGregor suffered a knee injury while attempting a kick. The result meant there was no full-length contest between the two former champions, leaving McGregor’s next combat sports appearance uncertain.
For Paul, meanwhile, a crossover fight remains an option he has repeatedly shown interest in. Whether that matchup eventually moves from talk to an actual event will depend on both sides and the plans of their respective promotions.
